Celebrating Volunteer Month in Our Community
National Volunteer month in the United States takes place in the month of April. This month is dedicated to honoring all the volunteers in our communities as well as encouraging volunteerism throughout the month. Volunteers are the backbone of many organizations, providing essential services and support to those in need. Their dedication and selflessness make a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals. This month UpRiver Village would like to honor those who have dedicated their time and energy this past year to building UpRiver Village and moving it closer to our launch date of July 1. We would also like to encourage community members to consider becoming a volunteer.
Volunteering in your community offers numerous benefits that can enrich your life and the lives of others. Here are some compelling reasons to get involved:

Volunteering is a fulfilling and impactful way to give back to your community. Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or new to the idea, there are countless opportunities to get involved and make a meaningful contribution. Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community. Currently UpRiver Village is looking for volunteers in the following areas:
1. Direct Service Volunteers: Provide services such as social visits and calls, occasional housework, yard and garden work, organization and de-cluttering, minor home repairs and maintenance, technology assistance, help with seasonal/holiday tasks, post-surgery recovery support, and pet care. All direct service volunteers will be required to pass a background check and receive orientation and training prior to delivering services.
2. Communications Coordinator: Oversee and coordinate a small team of volunteers that will inform potential volunteers and members, the public, and existing members about Upriver Village in both digital and print communications. This is a key volunteer position that is also a member of the Upriver Village Steering Council.

Outreach Coordinator: Oversee and coordinate a small team of volunteers that will reach out to new individuals, agencies, and organizations that also serve seniors to schedule discussions or presentations. They will also research and schedule tabling opportunities at farmers markets and other public events. This is a key volunteer position that is also a member of the Upriver Village Steering Council.

Outreach Assistant: Work with others to develop lists of individuals and organizations with missions and interests that align with Upriver Village, and will reach out to these people and organizations to schedule discussions, presentations, or tabling opportunities.

Member Management Assistant: Work with others to respond to membership inquiries, enroll new Upriver Village members, process member renewals, provide initial member orientation, assess member satisfaction, and offer ideas for improving member services..

Volunteer Management Assistant: Work with others to recruit, manage, retain, and recognize Upriver Village administrative and direct service volunteers.
7.
Volunteer Drivers: Drive Upriver Village members to doctor's appointments, run errands, attend social events, go to the airport, etc. This position requires a satisfactory background check, valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, current insurance, and a satisfactory driving record. Drivers will be required to complete a National Safety Council safe driving course (online) and pass an in-person on-road driving test..

Event Planning Assistants: Help plan, organize, and put on Upriver Village social, recreational, educational, and cultural events and activities for members.
